Central and East Sutherland Repair Cafes

Repair Cafe’s are springing up all over the place and we’re very excited to be holding our first ever Pilot Central and East Sutherland Repair Cafe in Ardgay Hall.

Repair Cafes are simply about getting together to fix things, share knowledge about how to do that, finding out where to get stuff fixed, and keeping stuff alive for longer and out of landfill. Oh – and having some fun!

We’ve been holding a few meetings to chat about getting this going and we have a team of volunteers who can fix:

  • small electricals
  • sewing items
  • darning items and fixing woolies
  • revitalising old laptops
  • watch straps
  • mechanical items
  • computers

And more…

Check in your repair here: Central Sutherland Repair Cafe Check-in

Rather than figure out the detailed practicalities, we thought we’d just go for this and see how we get on. Ongoing, the cafes may move around other villages, or we may consider it best to stay in one place.

Come along and find out what it’s all about. Grab a cuppa. Have a chat. Get something fixed.

For items being fixed, we’d like to request £5 donation please. This money will help to cover the costs of running the events and associated costs. If parts are needed, these will be charged for. We may be able to fix items at the time or we may take them away to fix them or refer on to either local businesses or to Dornoch Men’s Shed or Lairg & District Learning Centre Makers Spaces.

The Maker’s Space provides a social space to unleash your creativity  with like-minded, crafty folks! Whether you want to learn something new, try our our equipment or bring your own project along (knitting, crochet, paint, etc).

Cabin Sessions are a social space to work on woodworking projects using the tools provided and supported by the tutor who will be on hand to help.

Contact Lairg & District Learning Centre to find out times and dates etc.
