Planet Sutherland events
Sat 25th, 10am – 1pm – Bonar Bridge School – Garden Work Day
Come along and join Planet Sutherland’s Garden Hit Squad to weed, plant, mulch and be merry. Pick up on some gardening, composting and permaculture skills. Perhaps you’d like to join our summer school garden volunteers group too? But either way, come long for a little while to get the garden ship shape for summer. No need to book.
Mon 27th June, 7-9pm – Invershin Hall – Kyle of Sutherland Growing Group
Our Kyle of Sutherland Growing Group meets once a month to chat about all things gardening over cake and coffee. June’s topic is about what fruit and veg grows best where we live. Planet Sutherland will be there to help climate change discussion. Join our facebook group here. No booking required.

Let’s talk climate! Come along for a friendly cuppa and a blether about climate change. Ask your questions, share your worries, find out what’s happening locally and throughout The Highlands. We can also discuss what fun things we can perhaps do locally, either individually or as a group, and find out about The Highland Climate Charter. No need to book. *
Weds 29th June, 2:30-4pm – Drovers Square, Ardgay – Polytunnel Open Afternoon
The Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust polytunnel has only been going since the end of last year. It’s packed to the gunnels with fruit and veg, herbs and even flowers. Planet Sutherland will be there to answer any polytunnel structure questions and help with gardening questions along with our gardening expert. Come along to see what a First Tunnels extra strength tunnel looks like, see what’s growing. No booking required.
Weds 29th June, 7pm – Bonar Bridge Hall – Film Night – Riverwoods
Thanks to The Kyle of Sutherland Fisheries Trust for hosting this film night. Narrated by Peter Capaldi, Riverwoods shines a light on the perilous state of Scotland’s salmon and tells the compelling story of an inextricable and extraordinary relationship, between fish and forest.. Friday 1st July, 10am-2pm – South Bonar Bridge Industrial Estate – Electrical Recycling
ILM Highland are bringing a lorry to help us all get rid or these old electrical items cluttering up our houses, lofts, garages and sheds – everything from lawnmowers to kettles, and hoovers and fridges to hifi – anything with a plug. No need to book. *
Sat 2nd Jul, 9-11am, Foraging in Rogart
Another foraging event, this time in Rogart and being organised by Planet Sutherland. Join Emma Armstrong to find out what food and herbs can be foraged in Rogart and how they can be used. Please email here to book. *
Sat 2nd Jul, 2-4pm, Durness Carbon Cafe
And another opportunity to gather amongst friends and talk climate. As above, this will be a friendly meeting over a cuppa to share our understanding of where we are with the climate and environmental issues and consider what small – or large – steps we can take to help. You’ll also hear about all the amazing work that’s going on across the Highlands and find out how to sign up to the Highland Climate Charter. The event is in Durness Hall, no need to book. *

Planet Sutherland built Gledfield School’s polytunnel through the Covid difficulties. Come along and see what a Highland Polytunnels construction looks like. Find out what’s growing there, and find out about joining the Gledfield School garden / polytunnel summer volunteers.
