Our first repair cafe was organised with RE:Circulate Sutherland and took place on 28th Nov 2023 in Ardgay Hall. It was a quiet affair, with perhaps 15 folks attending, and that truly was a very useful way to start. We all brought along items to fix and a small number of friends came in too to see what was going on and to enjoy a friendly cuppa. We had good practice at logging items in, PAT testing and all the other admin. And of course, we met some new friends too. Thanks to all who came along, fixed and got fixed. We’re planning the next repair cafe on the 25th Feb 24 where we’ll hopefully also be running a good ole jumble sale!
In November, we fixed: a food mixer, two jumpers, two jacket zips, an old doll and sharpened some tools. We checked out a coffee maker, identifying what was needed to fix it. We took apart a belt sander, which sadly had overheated, melting some bits so couldn’t be fixed. And, we part fixed one doll sorted out the parts needed, which are being 3D printed for fixing at the next cafe.
We have very shy repairers! But here are the pix of fixes to get you inspired.
